Imagine your access to services being determined by your racial profile and the quality of those services depending largely on assumptions made about your ethnicity.
Australia’s persistent problem with race
It's been 48 years since the Racial Discrimination Act was introduced in an effort to make sure everyone in Australia was treated equally and given the same opportunities. Almost half a century later, Diversity Council Australia and community leaders say Australia still has a persistent problem with race, with people reporting they're treated differently at school or in the workplace just because of the colour of their skin.

'Isolated and traumatised' workers subject to racist slurs call for employers to do more to stamp out bullying and harassment. Consistently across all ethnic groups, more than 50 per cent of respondents felt that the impacts of systemic racism were high or very high for their psychological safety, job motivation and career prospects," the report found.

First Racial Justice Conference in Australia
The inaugural Racial Justice Conference in Australia touched on hot topics like invisible race discrimination.
The Racial Justice Centre held the event at the State Library of NSW on 19 April. A total of 30 thought leaders from the fields of law, academia, and the arts shared their insights on the definition of antisemitism, anti-arab and islamophobia.
